What was your first step into the drone show industry?

I have worked in the field of technical art and 3D animation for a long time. My interest in drone shows started when I realized that animation programs such as Blender, Maya and others can be used to choreograph drone shows. I know that my skills can be useful in such work, so I started to practice, develop some workflows and write some tools, and also create test shows. Then I started looking and doing some freelance work for companies/people knowing that they provide a drone light show service. Then the company Drone Show Software by SPH Engineering held the 1st Drone Show Choreography Competition where my work won the first prize and after that, I got a few more clients, and one of them was Sky Elements.

What made it possible to become a member of the Sky Elements team?

I think the drone show companies found out about the 1st Drone Show Choreography Competition and it opened the doors for contestants and allowed me to get to know Sky Elements directly. I worked freelance for them for several months and eventually I was given the chance to be part of their team.

In general, you need to have:

  • Creativity and imagination,
  • Knowledge of 3D animation tools,
  • Ability to work with design and color,
  • Some modeling and rigging skills will definitely help if you are going to work with complex 3D images,
  • Some technical art skills.

What are the latest shows you are proud of and why?

I am proud of almost all of my shows. For a creator, one of the main things that gives you a sense of satisfaction is the audience's appreciation of the art and creativity in the drone show.

What is the future of the drone show industry from your point of view?

The drone show industry is starting to gain popularity, although there are still those who haven't seen or heard of it. I think it will evolve and be like the fireworks industry in the sense that the drone show will be part of most small and big celebrations.

Drone shows have already become part of private events and public events such as:

  • Programs in theme parks, as an additional attraction
  • Brand promotion
  • Marketing tools
  • Addition to the fireworks show
  • TV show promotion
  • Holiday shows like Christmas, New Year, etc.

I think that in the future a good drone show will depend on two things: the creativity of the show itself, how good the design is, and how dynamic the animation is.Second, the technology, the workflow behind the design or production of the show. This is what allows designers to create dynamic shows.
